Hello everyone. I just downloaded pcsx2 (Seemed like only hope to play good game on Linux (( ). And I think plugins and bios is ok. But I tried to play Dark cloud 1, but nothing. A window showed up, and was hearing the start sound of ps2.
But unfortunately, the window wasn't showing anything, just fps( and it was around 40-50). So I want to know if the problem in game or something.
And i'd really appreciate if someone could post here which games he.she played with this emu. And if possible user who have experience with this emu, post help maybe I configured plugins bad or something. P.SWell my video card isn't 'brilliant' I am using Toshiba satellite L300 with it's standard videocard. It's Vram should be around 368 (Checked when I used Windows, don't know if it is same in Linux) Sorry for this long long post.

Hi I'm having trouble installing the emulator PCSX2 and getting it to work. It was working fine under windows OS but I thought it would be better to switch to Ubuntu since it's free. I really want to be able to play my kingdom hearts game on my Ubuntu computer. Here are my specs the best I know them incase you're wondering.
Computer model: HP Pavilion dv6 OS: Ubuntu 12.10 32 bit graphics: AMD Radeon 6700M series processor: intel core i7 can anyone help me. By the way I'm a complete beginner so nothing too difficult. I install it through the terminal using these instructions Then I select to open though plugin instead of an.iso and when I put my game disc inside my computer and I get a blank/black screen but I can hear some noise. What am I doing wrong do I have to make an.iso of my game. Also how can I get the playstation menu to show up so I can format the memory cards. I prefer to use the virtual memory cards to save states. By the way everything worked fine with a little tweaking when I had a windows 7 OS.
I don't want to go back to windows if I have to since windows isn't free to upgrade and open source and isn't as customizable as Ubuntu. Hello, So you have the DVD driver plugin? What kind of noises are they? Of the game, or do they sound more like system error sounds?
Yes, you should try making an ISO of the game. You can easily do that through Brasero. But you can also use AcetoneISO to make an ISO like so; 55dUO2cQWEvsqlGPjtJX3S1CSdX3fFXunHVrCZXw=s512 If the ISO doesn't work, then we will have to look into your settings.
Do you have the BIOS? You can't play without it. Also, have you tried pcsx2-unstable? It might work for you better. Hello, Alright, I hope it works.
But I need to ask if you have the following things or have updated them; Your drivers The BIOS for the system Mesa installed (Latest is 8.0.4 I think) It really sounds like a driver issue to me. I heard nouveau works with people who experience this problem. But see if this can fix your issue; Since you are a beginner I highly suggest you read the Ubuntu Pocket Guide (or the manual (to get you started.
Hello, You should have told me it was doing that instead of having to reinstall Ubuntu every time. There could have been a way to uninstall fglrx through the Command Line and fix the issue. Did you install via the official drivers from AMD's website, or did you use the terminal method listed on the link I gave you? The issue, if you are lucky, is caused by using the wrong driver.
So which did you use? I was hoping you would not encounter any driver issues, especially with AMD as I don't have that. Perhaps a AMD user can help you, like Thee (he seemed to have set it up he says in the WoW thread).
Hello, I'm glad you got the screen to work! I'm not sure about why you can't have both of them configured at the same time. It could be because it is a console controller, and not a PC controller. I can find some links for you, but other than that, I haven't the foggiest. (has the same problem as you) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=93407. Hello, Zeropad is for Linux, too (first link I gave you).
It might be that you need to use a PS controller, not an Xbox controller, but I doubt that. Are you using a wireless Xbox controller that you just hooked up through a charger cable?
I have had trouble with wireless controllers before, so if you are using one, try using a wired controller. But, how about these; Plugins should still work in Linux, as they are for the emulator. As for jstest-gtk, please check these links; Let me hook up this emulator, put in my Xbox controller and see if I can figure some things out for you. It might take me a while if I get the same screens, but I'll report back if the above doesn't help you any. Hello, It is a plugin, so there is no installation like installing a program-or so that's how plugins worked the last time I used the emu. You drag it into the plugin folder of the emulator, refresh the folder and then open the emulator and set up the plugin that way.
See these links; And consider reading the Official English Guide for the emulator; http://pcsx2.net/config-guide/official-english-pcsx2-configuration-guide.html. Hello, And you are sure you are a 32 bit computer, right? Are you using the 32bit.so file not the 64bit.so file? And did you place the file in the plugins folder correctly? For the 32bit.so file; edit What kind of error? Black screen with sound, or something new? Edit 2 Oh, my bad, Pokopom does not allow configuration.
It automatically configs, or so it says. That's why it won't allow you. It makes up the settings for you, for solution purposes. But if you can't get the game to work, we can't test the controls.
Hello, I usually close the window the command opens first, and then type the command 'exit'. That shuts down the terminal. When do you get the error screen? Inside the emulator, or does this happen when you perform the sudo commands? Do you think you could get an image of the error, or copy the error message for us? It could be because the emulator does not support 12.10-at least according to gregory; See if getting the plugins from this video helps you; and then check to see if the game you are even attempting to play is compatible with the emulator yet, even your controller.
If all else fails, I seriously suggest asking gregory or the forums about this. They will be able to provide you with better help then this forum. The files must be.so files, not.dll files.
Windows would use.dlls. Here is the PADwin.so file. I went ahead and compressed the rest of the.so files I had and uploaded them, too. Place the '.so' files, if you haven't found the right folder, into the pcsx2 folder where the rest of the.so files are. For me, the location is; /usr/lib/games/pcsx2 Inside the last folder there should be some.so files.

This is where you place them. Please don't forget to mark the thread solved if it gets the problem cured and which solution it was that worked. Hello, Well, I see a lot of users saying they are using a Logitech controller. Wired Xbox and Afterglow PS3 controllers work, too. I have personally used them. But you can check out these threads; (HOWTO) If you have a friend with either of those controllers, ask him/her if you could borrow them just to see if they work in the system.

I am trying to get a PS3 Sixaxis controller to work with Ubuntu 12.04. The ubuntu wiki page for sixaxis says to install QtSixA, which I did. The issue now is actually using the controller. I installed 'SuperTux 2' to test it out.
Normally, SuperTux says there is no joystick. When I plug in the PS3 Controller, and press scan, it then displays all of the controls and their assigned buttons. I can then click on a action and it will prompt me to press the button I want to assign. The issue here that pressing buttons on the controller doesn't do anything. I can't assign any of actions to a button on the controller. The same goes for PCSX. I can configure the controller, and select the Sony Playstation(R)3 Controller from the drop down, but when I try to assign a button, pressing buttons on the PS3 controller doesn't do anything.
On the web, I see tons of guides on how to connect with Bluetooth, but my computer doesn't have a bluetooth dongle, so I just want to connect via USB. In addition, QtSixA can see the controller too. I can 'configure default profile', which I have tried, but SuperTux 2 nor PCSX react any differently. UPDATE: Following the guide, I tried sudo apt-get install libusb-dev libusb-0.1-4 xserver-xorg-input-joystick, and then compiled sixpair. Running sudo./sixpair complains about enabling bluetooth, then SuperTux 2 can't find the controller anymore when I click scan. After reading, I found out I have to press the PS button to get it working. Well, that worked fine for using the controller as a POINTER device.
I can now make my mouse on screen dance using the analog sticks. I am still unsure of how to get it working with SuperTux 2 and PCSX though. When I didn't have xserver-xorg-input-joystick installed, pressing the PS button caused it connect to the PS3 in the other room as controller 2. I am very confused about what is going on right now.
I'm not sure if this will help, but when I set up my PS2 controller to play emulators I used. It took a little bit of time to get it set up between jstest-gtk and the emulator (I use ZSNES). After getting the controller to read properly through jstest-gtk I had to go into my emulator and assign all the buttons.
(I had thought it would auto-detect the controller but it didn't.) It works great; I've not had any problems with it. Like I said, I don't know if it will work for a PS3 controller though, but it might be worth the try. I installed joy2key which can be installed directly from the repositories of debian, once installed before you run the program/emulator you run joy2key -dev /dev/input/device number -terminal, you need to configure the analog joysticks, (there is a way to avoid this later but I haven't look how to write the configuration file), then you are good to go, I use it with MAME and others, I still can't make it work with some snes emulators, hope this work for any who need to use it with the USB port.
I've been using it for my PS2 library for some time now. There's definitely issues here and there but overall it's pretty awesome and makes it really hard to go back to playing directly from a PS2! I've just been using a 360 controller but I should figure out the driver thing so I can use my DS3 like a true Sony Warrior would. What software do you use to get your 360 pad working? I've got a number of games I'd like to play again, but since my PS2 died a number of years ago, they've just been boxed up. Sorry I should've noted that I use the wired 360 controller! That one makes life a lot easier from what I understand.
Bios Roms Pcsx2
Also for system specs I have: AMD Phenom II 555 OC'd to 3.8 ghz 4 GB Ram Nvidia GTX 460 Everything I've tried runs pretty good aside from notoriously slow games like ZoE 2. Also AFAIK if you want to upgrade your processor for PS2 emulation I don't think the emulator takes advantage of more than 2 cores so keep that in mind. Get the fastest/cheapest dual core you can and you'll be sitting pretty. My processor can be had for $80-89. I've been using it for my PS2 library for some time now.

Lilypad, the default controller plugin, works very well for both the wired and wireless 360 controller. I wish FF Tactics: War of the Lions was ported to PS2, so that I could then emulate it on 1080p and use R2 as a fast forward button. That was the one weakness I found with the PSP version, and it's weird that Japanese developers even now still have unskippable sequences. The Disgaea series is cool for quick combat, though. I have Ico and SotC, but I'm gonna wait for the HD pack and play on the PS3 instead of messing with this.
Otherwise I've been emulating old PS2 games at high res and was satisfied in the past. Nothing screaming at me right now to get me to reinstall everything. A thread from October where I posted my complete config, which works for most of the (known working) stuff I've thrown at it.
My rig is an AMD Phenom II 3.0Ghz and ATI 5770 so YMMV (Intel users would want to use a different GS plugin for extended SSE for example). As noted elsewhere, you probably have to run the program in admin mode to get it to save your settings. If you're using a 360 pad, you might have to use an XInput emulator because I think PCSX is looking for DirectInput devices. Thanks Junon - running it in Admin mode is what got.9.7 running without any sound. After rebooting my computer the sound is running and I am finally going to be able to run through some older PS2 games (like FF12) that I never got around to! I'm running on an AMD X2 245 (2.9Ghz dual core) and a 4770 and everything is working very well.
Only got a little while to test it out but I am very happy with the speed and also the graphics boost - PS2 games have never looked better. I'm using an unofficial PS3 USB wired controller I got from ebay for around $10 and it works very well in.9.7. It takes some time investment to get PCXS2 setup the proper way. I'm running the latest version of 0.9.7 and with the proper combination of speedhacks, plugins and settings I can run FFXII well enough to be quite playable for the most part. This is on a laptop with a 2.66ghz C2D processor and a GeForce 260M GPU.
Though truth be told the GPU matters little. A hefty dual core CPU is what you really really need. Using this same setup, I managed to play through all of FFX again.
For my controller I purchased a USB adapter for a Wii Classic Controller Pro and use that. It works extremely well. Also given the low price point of these controllers and the relatively high availability, purchasing a replacement is never a major ordeal. Not that I've had to, but in case the controller finds itself flying through the air one day. Better safe that sorry Anyway PCXS2 is quite impressive. Every version brings noticeable improvement. Since I no longer have a PS2 (I gave mine to my cousin when his died), but still have a huge cache of PS2 games, it is convenient to be able make use of those games.
Also being able to just rip a PS2 game into an ISO (for which I recommend either imgburn for free or Alcohol 120 for pay) and be able to tote around a library of them on my laptop is just fucking awesome. The process was somewhat complicated, but now that I know wtf I'm doing it wouldn't be bad if I had to do it again.
You need a way to copy data from your memory card to a usb stick, which means you need a haxxed ps2 or a cheat disk (ie Codebreaker). You copy the saves onto a usb disc, then onto your computer. If you used a cheat thingy, the saves will be in a retardo packaged format, so you'll need to use Ps2 Save Builder to extract the save files, which you then put in folders named with the id(shown in ps2 save builder) of the save.

If you didn't use a cheat thingy then you are a cool dude and all this work is already done. The difficult part is getting the saves onto a pcsx2 virtual memory card. Since there are no usb plugins for pcsx2, you have to use the cd drive.
So put the save folders into an iso (or burn them to a disk if you're stupid), then mount the iso, and tell pcsx2's cdrom plugin to look at that drive. Get a booter (or use the one you have on your haxxored ps2), and run it from File-Run Elf. If the elf loads but the graphics are broken, then fiddle with your gpu plugin settings and try again. Now copy the files from the cdrom to the memory card. Now treat yourself to a celebratory plate of bacon, cause you're done!
I followed a guide (which anyone could find with about 2 seconds of googling), but many of the steps were unecessary and it was written in 2007, for a much older version of pcsx2. Is there anyone here that plays beatmania games with the official konami 7-key controller?
How To Install Libusb
I have the original and haven't been able to get that working with the emulator. Can someone PM me or something to help? I just tried it, and everything worked for me. I'm using a psx-usb adapter.
I set up the controls on a normal ps2 controller, then plugged in the official Konami 7-key IIDX controller. The game gave me a warning that I wasn't using the right type of controller, but all the controls worked. Presumably this will work with any psx device. Just set up the controls with a regular ps2 controller, and then you don't have to worry about figuring out the mapping. Unfortunately the level of lag makes Beatmania frustrating to play. So unless you can figure out how to fix that, I don't recommend playing it on PCSX2.
Libusb
Been having a lot of fun with Final Fantasy XII. Funny how I ignored a good game so long because I didn't wanna cope with bad graphics. I'm kinda glad I did now, because it looks very good and I'm glad I get to do my first playthrough with modern graphics. Yet, I play through SNES games like Final Fantasy IV and VI almost yearly.
I guess 2D aged better than pre-FSAA 3D. I'm gonna swing by the Gamestop to see if I can find Dragon Quest 8, otherwise I'll have to order it online. Hopefully it wont be too cute/silly for my tastes. Final Fantasy XII has been the only one I've been able to stomach since Final Fantasy VII.
